Artificial Hells - Baboo Liao [2022]

Commissioned by the National Theater and Concert Hall and directed by Baboo Liao (廖俊逞), "Artificial Hells" is a combination of virtual and in-person performances that explores the new normal of live performances after the COVID-19 pandemic. It is the second installation of the "Asian modern mythology trilogy (亞洲現代神話學)" following the 2019 production "Mythology Upon the Table (餐桌上的神話學)."

Manila Zoo is the third part of the Happy Land series conceived by Filipino choreographer Eisa Jocson as a response to what she views as the conditioning and co-opting of the Filipino body as labour for amusement parks.
Mythology Upon The Table - Baboo Liao [2018]

Being the first installment of the "Asian modern mythology trilogy", Mythology Upon the Table features some seven artists from five different Asian countries of different artistic realms. They include a dancer, a choreographer, a visual artist, a video artist and a performing artist. In the play, they meet at a dining table, to conduct an exchange as to "mythology." As Greek philosopher Epicurus has stated, "We should look for someone to eat and drink with before looking for something to eat and drink:'
Princess - Eisa Jocson [2018]

In PRINCESS, Jocson, together with performance artist Russ Ligtas studies, reverse-engineers, and hijacks the prototypical body language, behavior, voice, and persona of Snow White—the first idealized fantasy princess of the Disney empire. Because Snow White is not being played by a white actress, the duo rewrites the dominant narrative. The Filipino body that normally plays only the marginal role is catapulted into the spotlight of the female central figure.
